These methods include blogging, forum posting, article submissions, press releases, facebook, web 2.0 sites and there are a few more free methods.

Again though as with paid methods to implement the free methods EFFECTIVELY you need to have some knowledge on exactly how and what to do to get the results.

So where do you start?

Well you can always look to outsource the work to others but I know when starting out many people do not have the funds to outsource, in which case you need to do it yourself. So here's what I recommend, now remember not to expect instant results!!

Submitting articles has always been a favourite of many people and this is something you can get started on right away, you will need to know how to do keyword research in order to get traffic from articles but you can easily learn that.

Articles can be 300 – 500 words in length so not very long, obviously I do not know your other commitments but I'm sure most people could fit into their day writing at least 1 article per day. This can even be done in your dinner hour at work or maybe in front of the tv at night.

Now I did also mention video, this for many is not something they are comfortable with but yes it can provide you with a good source of free targeted traffic. Remember with video you do not have to be in front of the camera, you can do slideshow videos and record your screen. This can even be done for free if you have no money to invest by using a free tool called CamStudio.

The key to gettting results from free traffic methods is to take regular consistant action, even when you do not see instant results. The traffic will come, just keep working at it.

The only way to fail is to quit and I really mean that.

It is recommended to use keywords in page titles itself. This title tag is different from a Meta tag, but it's worth considering it in relation to them. Whatever text one places in the title tag will appear in the title bar of browsers when they view the web page. Some browsers also append whatever you put in the title tag by adding their own name, as for example Microsoft's Internet Explorer or OPERA.

The actual text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page. In addition, all major web crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

If you have designed your website as a series of websites or linked pages and not just a single Home Page, you must bear in mind that each page of your website must be search engine optimized. The title of each page i.e. the keywords you use on that page and the phrases you use in the content will draw traffic to your site.

The unique combination of these words and phrases and content will draw customers using different search engine terms and techniques, so be sure you capture all the keywords and phrases you need for each product, service or information page.

The most common mistake made by small business owners when they first design their website is to place their business name or firm name in every title of every page. Actually most of your prospective customers do not bother to know the name of your firm until after they have looked at your site and decided it is worth book marking.

So, while you want your business name in the title of the home page, it is probably a waste of valuable keywords and space to put it in the title line of every page on your site. Why not consider putting keywords in the title so that your page will display closer to the top of the search engine listing.

Dedicating first three positions for keywords in title avoiding the stop words like 'and', 'at' and the like is crucial in search engine optimization.

Keyword Research Services – A Godsend Or A Rip Off?

Are you like me and struggle with keyword research? Actually I can find loads of keywords. The problem is though that most are next to useless, or at least seem to be.

I thought the data from Google’s keyword tool was always bang on. I mean, they wouldn't be telling fibs about their data, would they? Well, that's not always the case.

Any data you get isn't accurate. It would have been correct at some point though. The answer to this particular enigma came to me almost accidentally.

I went for a key phrase with around 5,000 pages competing against it. I was pretty sure I could get a good result with that keyword. I started churning out articles by the bucket load.

Pretty soon I noticed over 9000 competitors. I was shocked at this huge difference. Looked like it was going to be hard work. As it happens most of these extra results were my articles on these different sites.

I would have definitely avoided this key phrase had I saw 9000 competing web pages. I was competing with myself as my article was on the majority of these new sites. Not a bad situation to be in if you ask me.

I knew I wasn't going to get lucky all the time so I decided to try a keyword research service. I was looking to get some decent keywords delivered on a daily basis. I calculated the cost against the time it would take me and it seemed a value for money concept.

There were a few to choose from but I went with Travis Sago and his Instacash service. Travis being at the top of the bum marketing pile. Bum marketing is something I really like.

If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. An hour or two of my time is highly valuable to me when all I have is time. If I put the time saved up against the daily cost it shows clearly there's value to be had.

Outsourcing, outsourcing, outsourcing. Seems to be all you hear from the gurus of internet marketing. I see this as an outsourcing project. I'm simply outsourcing the job to a keyword research service.

Like so many others before me who have fallen victim to the inconsistent moderation tactics and convoluted and ever changing rules and out right blatant disdain for freedom of speech, I enter the infamous “club of the banned”.

It did not matter that I was a member in good standing for a couple of years with many quality posts under my belt and a high ratio of member thank you’s to actual number of posts…And I did not even get a temporary ban. I got the “Banned for Life” distinction and without warning…Why?

Well, officially I was accused of purposely “bumping” a thread that I started about facebook marketing. I was also accused bumping the thread for the sole purpose of "trying to promote my signature line" (see below image).

Although in reality, all I was doing was trying to respond to each and every person that posted a response to me in that thread in question. I even got a lot of praise and thanks in that thread of because of the FREE info that I contributed… So out of courtesy I thought it necessary to try to respond to everyone that responded to me…Of course I was not doing it all at once, hours at a time, in one shot…I have a life and a business to run for crying out loud…I would respond in “piece meal” as I had the time to respond… Unlike like the zealots that facilitated my banning I don’t spend hours at a time at forums… I usually just get in and get out and then respond when I can.

But because I responded to people, in the thread I started, over a period of days and not when people initially responded to me I was accused of purposely “bumping” my thread so it would consistently appear at the top of the forum and give the false impression that it was a “hot topic”… Do you follow that?

So not only do certain people hang out at the Warrior Forum waaaay to much but now there are those that spend so much time at the warrior forum, obviously not actively working on their alleged Internet Business, that they have time to try to track down and predict abusive posting patterns and then interpret what those patterns must mean and then extrapolate what the intent of the poster was who was making the post. Then these same amazing multi-taskers, who obviously don’t sleep, subjectively decide and arbitrarily act on those predictions of intent and decide to ban members based on this…

Get it?…No? Well I don’t either and I think those who ban people based on this are mostly just acting on whim because they are authority usurping zealots with an over-inflated sense of self importance as they interact on the Warrior Forum. It’s a sign of poor self esteem on the part of these individuals that act in this manner.

They appear to be the kind of people who act like they feel completely powerless in the real world and every other area of their lives so the Warrior Forum is the one place where they can try to feel a false sense of power to try to boost their fragile egos.. It kind of reminds me of the miserable souls you would deal with at your local Motor Vehicle Dept. But at least the people at the MVD you deal with face to face unlike these Warrior Forum pip squeaks that hide behind the anonymity of electrons on a computer screen…

These types of people know they have you by the short and curly’s because they were given a slight sliver of power and they in turn run with that sliver to try flex that power for no reason other than to try to make themselves seem more important then they really are in reality… It is actually kind of sad when you think of it like this…

Is that a clear picture now? So I have to say this about that….Holy Crap These people need to seriously get over themselves and do something more productive… Jeeeze Louise!

I suspect I was really banned for being a bit argumentative to those self-appointed facebook marketing gurus at the Warrior Forum that thought the content of my thread was promoting the violation of facebook TOS. These self-appointed facebook marketing “Gurus” said anything other than using facebook pay-per click or facebooks applications for marketing was a blatant violation of facebook terms of service…I politely called these self-deluded zealots on their BS and pointed out what they had was their subjective interpretation of the facebook TOS and their own opinions of what is proper, but that they certainly did not have any facts… They did not seem to like that too much.

Although after I said my piece to these zealots on my thread on the Warrior Forum they stopped responding to the thread… Good, I thought, the thread was obviously not meant for them and I was glad they were not going to continue to pollute it with their tripe…Shortly there after though, I was then banned for life without warning…

It does not take rocket scientist to figure out what transpired…I hurt someone’s feelings by calling them on their BS and instead of them trying to intelligently discuss or debate they run to the moderators and complain and then make up some BS excuse that I was purposely bumping my thread as to the reason for the ban….LOL.

What’s worse is that immediately after I was banned and no longer able to respond those same zealots swooped into the thread and started saying things like “Thank God” “See,… promoting the violation of another sites TOS is never good business” “He got banned for shilling an Affiliate link”… What little chicken shit weasels I thought…Jeeze…

Not only were they stating bold face lies for the reasons I was banned but they waited to respond and say these things after I was banned and could no longer respond to the thread…My business partner, who still has an account over at the Warrior Forum, tried to jump in and politely set the record straight but almost immediately all the posts defending me were deleted and the thread was finally locked… What is amazing is that they did not just delete the whole thread… I’m sure the reason for NOT deleting the thread was because even the moderators saw that I objectively added value to the forum with the thread and saw that no less than 7 different people in that thread thanked me for sharing…

I left the 6^th grade 24 years ago. Apparently the chicken shit whiny weazely zealots are repeating the 6^th grade for at least the 24^th time… I bet they ride the short yellow bus to school everyday as well…. Lol

So you may be thinking that I must totally hate the Warrior Forum… Well that is just it,.. I don’t. There are a lot of gems to be found on the Warrior Forum. Especially in the WSO section of the forum and the classified adds. I was constantly finding killer deals on back-link building packages and the like. Not to mention there are a lot of people at the Warrior Forum that really do share some great info for free… The problem is that few angry, low self esteem zealots seem to wreck it for a lot of people…

I am not the only one who has experienced this same type arbitrary banning. Just Google “Banned from the Warrior Forum” and you will see a whole page of results of people reporting similar experiences…

I am laughing out loud because I realized that now I don’t have an excuse to waste my time hanging out at the Warrior Forum because I can’t get on even if I wanted to… I have been Banned…Thank You. It’s a good thing. It actually gives me more time to actually work on my REAL Internet Business instead of throwing away my time away in that black suck hole known as the Warrior Forum.

Anyway I am sure there are a ton of people out there that have had similar experiences with the Warrior Forum…

Maybe I will start a “Banned from the Warrior Forum” facebook fan page…. LOL

How to Get Quality Guest Bloggers To Post To Your Blog

By now most of you know that I occasionally accept Guest Blog Posts at this blog. I do this for a few different reasons…

For starters it is a way to get a stream of quality "on theme" content for this blog that I feel would be valuable for you "the reader" to read. The side benefit to this is it gives me a break to constantly come up with new and unique topics to post about myself and it gives you "the reader" the opportunity to read a perspective other than my own…
Secondly, it also gives you "the readers" the opportunity to contribute value to this blog based on the knowledge you may have. As a side benefit when you guest blog here you get to post a link back to your own blog or website.

Most times those who submit a quality guest blog here also announce that they have done so to their own list and to their own blog readers…What this does is point potential readers that I may not have ever had back to this blog, and it gives an extra back-link for SEO purposes, which is always nice

As you can, you can see accepting guest blog posts to your blog and actually making guest blog posts to other blogs seems to be a "win-win" situation for all…Well this would be true in a perfect world and if all the planets suddenly aligned…

Personally, my biggest struggle when I accept guest blog posts is attracting people who will follow the guidelines I set forth to be able to get their post accepted…I moderate all posts before they are actually posted. My guidelines are simple and easy to understand… The post must be unique, not posted anywhere else, a quality post that actually adds value, not a blatant sales pitch, uses good grammar and spelling, and is ACTUALLY ON THEME TO THE CONTENT OF THIS BLOG. I swear, I end up rejecting 3 times as many submitted posts than I actually accept because some people refuse to abide by the guidelines I set forth… Oh well, I guess that comes with the territory.

I look to others who also accept guest blog posts and do some guest blog posting to see how they operate so I can gain some valuable ideas to implement in my strategy. Below is an example of an article from someone who accepts guest blog posts and is the occasional guest blogger who I have gained immense value from… Maybe you can too?

Unfortunately other more urgent tasks often get in the way and before you know it a week and then two or three have gone by without a new post. The solution – find some guest bloggers to post to your blog.

How do you find these people? Here are a few ideas:

Add a Guest Bloggers Wanted Page to your site including some information on what type of topics you are looking for, how long the articles should be, how many links the guest blogger is allowed etc.

Search for authors on EzineArticles.com and contact them about writing a blog post for your blog. Look for authors that have recently submitted articles for best results.

Use Google blog search or Technorati to search for related blogs and contact the owner. Look for writers that created good and unique content for their blogs and who update it regularly.

Put a request out on Twitter. My assistant recently did this to find guest bloggers and got enough responses to fill her blog for the next few months.

While you are at a blogging or Internet marketing conference ask bloggers you meet that have related websites if they would be interested in writing for you on occasion. If so, note it on their business card and contact them when you get back home.

Keep a master list of everyone that's shown interest in writing a blog post for you as well as a list of people who have already blogged for you. Contact them regularly for more posts.

An advertisement swap or ad swap is simply an arrangement where you agree to put up someone else’s ad on your site or email newsletter in exchange for them doing the same.

The goal of an ad swap is mainly to get exposure for a specific purpose, such as selling products/services or improving awareness of your brand/site. This is different from a link exchange because you are not seeking to improve your search engine rank.

The link value doesn’t matter at all. What matters is getting visitors into your web site.

Every internet marketer knows the value of having a good list. Unfortunately list building can be quite a challenge for a lot of marketers. There are a wide variety of ways to build a list, one of the best is through ad swaps. Using ad swaps is not a widely used technique for list building which is a mistake because it is a very effective way to add subscribers. Using ad swaps for list building has the added benefit of being free of cost.

The basic idea behind ad swaps is to find other marketers with lists and have them include an ad for your list in their e-zine. Of course in exchange you will run an ad for their list in your e-zine. Finding other list builders to exchange ads with should be no problem since the benefits should be pretty obvious to them.

The reason using ad swaps for list building works so well is the same reason that using lists to make sales works. Our ad swap system is a little unique. Please be sure to read all of the following before requesting an ad swap with us.

You can NOT use any kind of variables in your ad swap copy. The variable most ad swappers want to use is the first name of the subscriber. We do not necessarily gather the name of the subscriber. Many of our opt-in forms ask for their email address only. Our buyer list often has the company name in the name field and trying to extract a "first name" from the company name yields rather interesting results. So please do not attempt to use a variable such as "[!first-name]" in your ad copy. You also can't end your email with "[insert your name here]." Put the actual text you want to send for your email with no variables to fill in. We will end the email with our standard signature block as we always do. You don't need to close the email.

We also have deliverability issues covered for you. Please do NOT use tricks like "F.ree" or any other spammy "tricks" to try to get past spam filters. We have a very high deliverability rate and you simply don't need to use these tricks. They reflect poorly on your offer and look spammy. Even when you set up ad swaps with others, you should avoid these tricks since they are actually more likely to flag your email as spam than simply saying "Free" or whatever other word you are trying to "sneak" past the filters.

Don't be dishonest. We aren't friends. Don't imply that we are friends. My readers (and really all readers of every list) are smart and see through dishonest tactics like that. They will be far less likely to download your free offer or to buy anything from you if you are dishonest with them in your very first contact with them.

You will receive a free blog post in addition to an emailing of your offer. So write your offer as though it were both an email and a blog post. It will be. We don't expect a blog post from you in return. This is just a special bonus we offer our ad swap partners.

You don't need to worry about your list size. We currently deliver an average of 240 visitors per ad swap. If you have a list that delivers more, we will automatically run your ad swap again until we have met or exceeded the number of visitors you sent us. If your list is smaller than ours, we hope you will do the same to make things more even. Don't worry about meeting or exceeding the traffic we send you though. That will be impossible since we will forever be trying to beat each other's traffic numbers.

We have an automatic ban system in place. If you request an ad swap and then don't send your side of the ad swap, we will ban your IP, web-site, email and any other identifying information we have gathered from our system. That information will also be shared with our ad swap partners. You will have access to that information yourself after our second successful ad swap. Most ad swaps go fine, but there are people out there who try to cheat. Everyone in our ad swap group shares information about the cheaters so we can avoid getting tricked by the same cheaters.

There is no way to cancel an ad swap once you request one. Once you click the submit button, your ad swap is automatically scheduled and will go out from our side. You will be redirected to a page that has the ad copy for your list. If you don't set your side up and send it out, the system will automatically add you do our blacklist. It is important to have everything ready to go BEFORE you hit the submit button. Make sure your ad copy is correct and that you actually have the date you selected available BEFORE you hit the submit button.

We focus on buyers, not freebie seekers. The offer we will provide for you to send to your list will not be for a free report. It will be for an inexpensive (usually $10) downloadable product about the topic of this blog. If you know your readers are only freebie seekers, then you probably shouldn't request an ad swap from us. We are happy to send our readers to your offer whether it is a free report or an inexpensive special offer. That is up to you.

We are fairly loose about the topic of your ad swap. Look at this site. This site is the general topic of those on our list, but we also gather subscribes from other related sites. If you think your offer would be of interest to readers of this blog and you think your subscribers would be interested in the information on this blog, then we are open for an ad swap.
